Our Work

Following the example of St. Francis we embrace work as other poor people. The threefold purpose of our work is to foster our Contemplative life, serve the Church, and financially support our life and ministry.

Our work includes making religious articles (Rosaries, Chaplets, etc:), distributing Altar Breads, and performing domestic and manual labor.

Most of our work is done within the monastery.  However, we also serve the Franciscan University of Steubenville in a variety of ways.

"As poor people, the brothers and sisters to whom the Lord has given the grace of serving or working with their hands should do so faithfully and conscientiously...but they should not be so busy that the spirit of holy prayer and devotion, which all earthly goods should foster, is extinguished" (TOR Rule #18)

"Like our Father Francis, we esteem work as a grace of God.  Through our work we share in the creative activity of God, imitate the hidden life of our Savior and unite ourselves with Christ and His work of redemption."  (Constitutions)

"Through work we identify ourselves as poor people in solidarity with the poor and marginalized throughout the world.  We do not work for personal or communal gain or status, but embrace the common law of work as a means of providing for our basic needs, to serve the common good, and to share with those in need."  (Constitutions)
